Origin

Why Beej Bharat exists.

India is home to one of the world's richest crop gene pools. Over 10,000 years, our farmers bred varieties tuned to every micro-climate — from the salt marshes of Kerala to the frozen slopes of Ladakh. Then, in one generation, most of that intelligence disappeared into monoculture.

Beej Bharat was founded on a simple thesis: preservation is not a museum project — it is a technology project. Every indigenous variety carries encoded solutions to drought, disease, and nutrition that modern agriculture has yet to rediscover. We are building the digital rails to make that knowledge accessible, actionable, and alive.

The platform is a fusion of four disciplines: ethnobotany, computer vision, distributed systems, and grassroots farmer networks. Together they form a protocol — Beej — that any Indian farmer, researcher, or steward can plug into.
